Professional information

Since his admission to the Quebec Bar in 2000, Me Quenneville has developed expertise in public law, particularly in environmental law, telecommunications law and constitutional law.

Acting as a legal advisor as much as a litigator, he has been involved in several major files in municipal, administrative and constitutional law. In this capacity, he has had the opportunity to make representations before all courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada in Lacombe v. Quebec (PG) (aeronautics), Rogers Communications inc c. Châteauguay (telecommunications) and MediaQMI v. Kamel (media law). He was also one of the attorneys representing the Barreau du Québec before the Supreme Court of Canada in the Reference re the Securities Act (2011) in addition to having intervened in several files at the authorization stage of appeal to the Supreme Court. Finally, he acted in several legal cases as counsel, dealing with regulatory or constitutional aspects.

 

 

 

Mr. Mathieu Quenneville has been a speaker and trainer at several conferences and training sessions, including those organized by the Quebec Bar Recent Developments in Municipal Law (2011 and 2013), National Conference on Class Actions (2018), Rendezvous of the Supreme Court of Canada (2022), and Seminar on Advocacy (2025).

Social involvement

From September 2011 to June 2013, Me Quenneville was a member of the Liaison Committee of the Canadian Bar with the Supreme Court of Canada. This committee is responsible for discussing with Supreme Court justices and senior court officials improvements that can be made to the operation of the Supreme Court of Canada.

Awards and distinctions

In 2013, in recognition of his professional achievements, Mathieu Quenneville was named one of the best Canadian lawyers of his generation by LEXPERT® magazine and was awarded the title of "Lawyer to Watch". He has been nominated by his peers for inclusion in the last five editions of Best Lawyers in Canada (2021 to 2025 editions) for his practice in administrative and public law. He has also been recognized for his practice in environmental law (editions 2023 to 2025).
