Professional informations

Marie-Sophie Marceau is a partner in the civil and commercial litigation team of PFD Avocats and supervises the Debt Recovery team. Her practice focuses on shareholder disputes, commercial contracts and real estate litigation. She has extensive experience in pre-judgment seizures, injunctions and safeguard orders, particularly in relation to compliance with non-competition and non-solicitation clauses. She also represents companies and employers against claims for prohibited practices, dismissal without cause and psychological harassment.

She regularly appears before the Court of Québec, the Québec Superior Court and the Québec Court of Appeal. Involved at every stage of a case, she also assists her clients in the early stages of litigation and through various dispute resolution approaches.

 

As part of the Debt Recovery team, she represents a number of financial institutions and lenders, offering them a wide range of solutions, from pre-litigation collection programs to judgment enforcement. These solutions cover both unsecured claims and claims secured by hypothec or other securities.

A graduate of the Université de Sherbrooke’s Faculty of Law, Ms. Marceau was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2010. She also holds an MBA from the Université de Sherbrooke.

Marie-Sophie Marceau is particularly involved in the following organizations:

  • Director of Le Soleil Levant since 2016, a crisis center for adults in psychological distress;
  • Volunteer for the preparation service for a hearing before the Régie du logement;
  • Volunteer for Salon Visez Droit;
