Marc-André Nadon joined PFD in 2015 and practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, intellectual property, and media and communications law. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced in the same areas for over seven years with an international law firm.
His practice covers all aspects of litigation, including drafting legal opinions and procedures, as well as representation before the courts of various jurisdictions. He is also involved in extraordinary proceedings such as injunctions. Mr. Nadon represents clients before the Superior Court, the Quebec Court of Appeal, the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. He also appears before administrative tribunals such as the Trademark Opposition Board and the Quebec Administrative Tribunal.
His commercial litigation practice includes complex shareholder and corporate disputes. Mr. Nadon also has significant experience in oppression remedies.
As part of his media and communications law practice, Mr. Nadon represents Quebec’s leading news media, including in the context of defamation actions and complex proceedings involving non-publication, closed session and sealing orders. He also advises companies on the management and content of their communications on the Internet and social media.
In his intellectual property practice, he acts for plaintiff or defendant in complex litigation involving the infringement of trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and other intellectual property rights. He also acts in extraordinary proceedings such as Norwich, Mareva and Anton Piller.
A versatile lawyer and passionate litigator, Mr. Nadon sometimes acts as a strategic advisor to his clients, reviewing with them various business issues and revising certain commercial agreements. He favors a pragmatic, proactive approach that focuses on his clients’ business interests while taking into account legal risks and issues.
Mr. Nadon is a member of the Association des avocats pour la défense de l’expression dans les médias (Ad Idem/CMLA). This is a Canada-wide association of lawyers and other media professionals.
Mr. Nadon has taught constitutional law at the Université de Montréal as a lecturer and principal lecturer for the Libertés publiques course (DRT 3503).
Mr. Nadon is also passionate about classical music, and is a director of the Orchestre symphonique de Laval (OSL).
