Professional information
Axel Fournier holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) from the University of Montreal, where he was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for academic excellence. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M.), for which he wrote a thesis examining the impact of Quebec commissions of inquiry on legislation relating to integrity.
Mr. Fournier joined Prévost Fortin D’Aoust in September 2016 as a law clerk and was named a partner in January 2026. Prior to joining PFD, he served as a research assistant to two professors at the University of Montreal: Martine Valois, whose areas of expertise include administrative and constitutional law, and Jean Hétu, who specializes in municipal law and the history of the Faculty of Law.
Social involvement
Deeply involved in the community, Mr. Fournier has been a member of the City of Varennes’ Urban Planning Advisory Committee since 2013. In addition, he is involved in promoting public transit by serving as a spokesperson for the Association pour le transport collectif de la Rive-Sud, a group of public transit users. He is also president of Trajectoire Québec, a national association of public transit users.
