Professional informations

Mtre. Daniel Goupil earned a bachelor of arts in philosophy and a bachelor of laws from Université de Montréal. He is a member of the Québec Bar. In 2004, he joined Prévost Fortin D’Aoust. Today, as a partner in the firm, he oversees the municipal law sector.

He advises and represents municipalities, cities and paramunicipal organizations of all sizes, as well as their insurers, before the courts and other administrative authorities (Commission de protection du territoire agricole du Québec, Tribunal administratif du Québec and Commission municipale du Québec). His practice extends over a broad range of focuses, including urban planning, expropriation, municipal tax law, funding, tendering, municipal civil liability, the drafting of regulations and contracts and ethics and integrity.

He is often called upon to lead training sessions and conferences on municipal law and ethical issues. Furthermore, he is recognized as an instructor by the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages and serves the Ministère des Affaires municipales, des Régions et de l’Occupation du territoire as an ethics advisor.

Mtre. Goupil also coordinates the drafting of Le règlement municipal, published by PFD and the FQM.

Social involvement

Mtre Goupil was appointed chairman of Centraide Laurentides’ 2010 fundraising campaign and is actively involved in his community through chambers of commerce and non-profit organizations.
