Amélie Chouinard was admitted to the Québec Bar in 2007 and has practiced in the labour law sector at PFD Avocats since she was sworn in. She advises unionized and non-unionized employers on a full range of issues related to labour relations and occupational health and safety.
Through her pragmatic and rigorous approach, she provides guidance to employers on all legal aspects, including those related to disciplinary file and performance management, organizational restructuring and the implementation of labour relations policy. She also supports clients in the drafting of individual employment contracts and acts as a spokeswoman in the negotiation of collective agreements.
With respect to occupational health and safety issues, Mtre. Chouinard advises and represents clients in their occupational injury and illness claims regarding allocation (cost sharing) and prevention (inspection and infringements).
She is often called upon to represent employers in civil suits, claims and grievances before the courts and administrative bodies (Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT) and arbitration and civil tribunals).
Her clientele is made up of businesses of all sizes in a variety of areas, including retail, services, IT, construction and transport. She also represents agencies in the municipal and health sectors.
Mtre. Chouinard is a member of the firm's human resources committee.
