Professional recruitment

90% retention rate and more arguments from PFD Lawyers!

At PFD, we are proud to say that we are committed to the development of our law students and articling students. In addition to formal and informal mentoring, the entire team contributes to student training through a range of programs, including our pairing system and the weekly training sessions at our legal team meetings. At PFD Lawyers, law students and articling students are part of every stage in the legal process to gain more knowledge of the profession, our clients and our firm.

As a law student or an articling student, you will receive advice and support from the members of our team. Committed to your success, they will follow your progress and help you manage your workload. Our open-door policy helps ensure your complete integration within the firm.

As an articling student, you will be assigned to a principal, who will assist and guide you. Your success is important to us, and we want you to make the most of your experience here and benefit from our team's knowledge. Launching your career at PFD Lawyers will open every door so you can aspire to the highest level of the profession. You will gain practical experience and learn from rigorous assessments.

Your development is critical to our evolution, and our firm's retention is among the highest in the field. Most of our partners are former articling students. We are focused on knowledge sharing in a friendly and dynamic work environment. We aim to impart our firm's core values from your very first day, without our articling students having to challenge each other for a position at the end of the program.

For our students, we rely on a multidisciplinary approach. There are no rotations: we provide our students and articling students with the opportunity to acquire experience based on their own interests and goals. Every articling student we select is also offered a summer position to pursue other projects, such as a master's degree or further training.

If you strive to excel and seek to share the day-to-day and expertise of our professionals, send us your application. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact one of our law students or articling students.

We are convinced that you have much to offer and hope to meet with you very soon.

What we look for in our law students and articling students

PFD is seeking students with the skills and qualities that will make them excellent lawyers.

Do you have what PFD is looking for?

Business acumen: Articling students may be called upon to meet with clients early on in their careers. They are also encouraged to begin to build their client base.

Rigour: Rigour, critical thinking and attention to detail are qualities that separate good lawyers from excellent ones. Law students and articling students will quickly learn that the key to a case is in the details.

Initiative: Future lawyers who are not afraid to take the lead and move toward their goals will always be better served in their careers.

Team spirit: Professionals who work in a multidisciplinary medium-sized firm must demonstrate team spirit and collaboration. At PFD, teamwork is critical: less experienced lawyers can rely on the expertise and advice of more senior professionals.
